Chris, remember the that 1st amendment we have is largely a creation of the Supreme Court and not the intention of the Founders. So, libel lawsuits were fine even for true speech at the founding, just like jolly old England. I'm not sure why, with the Constitution's specific provision for amendments, that this amendment would seemingly eviscerate the first amendment. We are simply drawing a line - saying, you may express your disapproval of your country, its government, and its policies. You must simply choose another means of expressing that disapproval. Hands off the flag. I'm ok with that.
